"John Keys, eldest son of Isaac and Mary Lewis Keys was born near Zollerville, Washington County, PA Aug. 12, 1813. John has a sister Elizabeth who married Otho West. Their was also a sister Sarah Keys who married Samuel West. They were living in Morgan Twp. Greene Co.,PA in 1850 and 1860.
In Pittsburg and her People, it states "Issac Keys was of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, his ancestors having come to Pennsylvania from Maryland and settled in Lancaster County."

Hugh Keys b. Baltimore MD,  m. Elizabeth Irwin  and was a merchant briefly then went ot Washington Co and ran a hotel. He moved to Fayette Co. PA and was canal commissioner and d. 1841. He and Elizabeth had 13 children. Children were: William, Hugh, Andrew, Irwin, Margaret, James and three others. Father was William Keys m. Catherine Graham. Williams brother was Thomas.
 Basically, there were thee differant KEY families in Fayette and Washington Co. PA.  (a) William and Thomas. came from Ireland,  Fermanagh, and settled in Washington Co Pa. ard 1805. They were brothers and came about 1804. William b. Christine Graham, in Ireland and had at least 9 children. Thomas, his brother, maried Elizabeth and had 8 children. He died in 1839
(b) James Keys of Cumberland Co. PA was b. there and died there in 1777. he had one son, James and b. 1777. His mother married a Robert Watson and moved to Washington Co. PA. James Jr. married Jane McClelland.
(c) Jacob Keys  and wife Elizabeth of Germany. They had about 6 children. Coming to America about 1789 and settled in Washington Co. He had a brother Abraham who lived there and died there. His wife was named Mary? (Jacob Keys, contact Debbie Day <dday@zoominternet.net>

Andrew Keys and wife Eliza Fowler

Pat,  Eliza Fowler may have married Andrew Keys, son of William Keys and Christine Graham. I attach a group sheet for Andrew Keys and Eliza Fowle with census records I have for them. They moved to Indiana prior to 1840 and Andrew died there in 1857. Eliza died sometime after 1870, probably in Pulaski Co, IN.

The information I have for James Keys of Cumberland Co, PA is from the "Biographical Record of Washington County, PA," Chicago, 1893, page 595. The writeup is on Joseph Keys, grandson of James Keys. It simply says James Keys had one son, James, and died shortly after in 1777. His widow remarried a Robert Watson and they moved to Washington Co, PA. It makes no mention of Rev War participation.
