Keys-Kees & Harter Families of Kentucky and Indiana
Catherine Keys/Keas Harter, wife of Geo. Harter of Bourbon Co Ky.:
Nov 17, 1806: Catherine "Katie"
Keys mar. George Harter in Bourbon Co
Ky. Bond:
Conrad Varner
Jan 30, 1806: Catherine Kees witness to will of Elizabeth Lair of Harrison Co Ky.
Conclusions: Catherine and William Keys were probably brother and sister because of the interactions between the two with Conrad Varner in Harrison Co Ky. Reasons: (a) Conrad Varner bondsman for Catherine Keys marriage and neighbor at Lair's Station, Ky. of William Kees on 1820 Harrison Co Ky. Census and in 1810 may have been counted in Conrad Varner household (b) William Kees of Campbell Co Ky. purchased tract in Harrison Co Ky. from Conrad Varner of Spencer Co Ind. (c) Adam & Conrad Varner plus William Kee on 1800 Bourbon Co Ky. Census. (d) Harter and Varner migration from Harrison Co Ky. to Spencer Co Indiana.

Andrew Keys and wife Eliza Fowler
August 5, 2004
Pat,
Eliza Fowler may have married Andrew Keys, son of William Keys
and Christine Graham. I
attach a group
sheet for Andrew Keys and Eliza Fowle with census records I have for them.
They moved to Indiana prior to 1840 and Andrew died there in 1857. Eliza
died sometime after 1870, probably in Pulaski Co, IN.
The information I have for James Keys of Cumberland Co, PA is from the
"Biographical Record of Washington County, PA," Chicago, 1893, page 595.
The writeup is on Joseph Keys, grandson of James Keys. It simply says
James Keys had one son, James, and died shortly after in 1777. His widow
remarried a Robert Watson and they moved to Washington Co, PA. It makes no
mention of Rev War participation.
